Enabled by tourism our not-for-profit organsiation is preserving pieces of our past for future generations to enjoy.

The Waimarie offers a great environment to learn and thrive in the Tourism, Hospitality, and Marine sectors.

We have a range of employment opportunities during our season and typically recruit in August each year.

We offer a great space for volunteers to join us and share their skills in maintenance from cosmetic work keeping the old girl looking as good as she did 126 years ago to knowledge with our visitors about the Riverboat era, Whanganui, and Te Awa Tupua - Whanganui River. Reach out to us if you want to be involved in our Volunteer program.

Great little museum showing the history of the Whanganui river and the boats that have travelled along it. We took the 2 hour cruise on the steam powered boat at a cost of $49 per adult. The staff were excellent and the commentary very informative. Lovely tea, coffee and cakes at reasonable...
