Your cruise leaves the Riverboat Centre Wharf and heads upriver taking in the scenery and views of Whanganui which can only be experienced from Te Awa Tupua, the Whanganui River.

Our commentary shares riverboat history and points of interest along the way. Check out the boiler that powers our paddle steamer, and maybe meet our homing pigeons and send a message with them on their flight back to the Riverboat Centre. Our friendly team is only too happy to answer any questions you may have.

At Ūpokongaro you can stop in at Behind The Door On 4 cafe - see if you can spot the Nankeen Night Herons, grab some food from the food carts, check out Papaiti Gin, and learn about the stories behind the flavours. Or take a look at St Mary's Church, a historic place built in 1877. see if you can spot the unusual 3 sided spire.
